In 2014, Samuel Bier and his family set out to create career opportunities for adults with autism through Popcorn for the People, a gourmet popcorn company designed to create employment for people with disabilities. Based in New Jersey, Popcorn for the People has helped give individuals with autism and other disabilities fair-waged jobs that will set them up for future career advancement. Because 82% of people with disabilities are unemployed, the success of Popcorn for the People represents a new height for the neurodiverse community.
Popcorn for the People has grown significantly since its founding. Recently, the nonprofit has partnered with both Wawa and the Philadelphia Eagles, selling their delicious popcorn in select Wawa locations & the Lincoln Financial Field. Popcorn for the People is set to use a former Wawa location as a redesigned production facility, helping the company amplify its mission toward building a more inclusive future.
Popcorn for the People partnered with Props this past fall to curate content, expand its reach, and spread brand awareness. At Props, we take pride in identifying and understanding our client’s audience, ensuring we get the right eyes to land on their content and connect with their cause. We’re excited to see our relationship with Popcorn for the People flourish in 2024 and support as they continue to invest in improving the neurodiverse unemployment rate one kernel at a time.
