Tom Beusse is a seasoned executive who has been successfully operating media companies for over 30 years. Throughout his career he has often been charged with taking companies through difficult transitions and he has had the pleasure of being associated with some of the world’s leading consumer media brands.

As the President of TFXB Associates, Beusse is always lending his knowledge and insights to a collection of clients that are trying to launch brands, acquire assets, leverage existing assets and in many cases revise existing business models to better position assets to take advantage of the evolving media landscape.

Current TFXB Associates clients include an ad tech company, a digital gaming company, a tech education company and several sports team ownership groups.

Beusse joined Howard Milstein in 2018 to lead the acquisition of Golf.com and Golf Magazine from Time, Incorporated. After closing the acquisition, Tom joined Mr. Millstein as CEO of a newly formed company, EB Golf Media, LLC. In this role, Tom managed a sequenced process to build operating systems for the new business, oversaw the migration of assets and personnel out of the former owner’s operating environment and assembled a staff capable of operating the new business. In addition, Tom authored a strategic plan for the business that leveraged a more transactional user experience including e-commerce, travel booking and on-line education as drivers of growth.

Prior to joining EB Golf Media, Beusse was Chairman/CEO of F+W Media, an enthusiast media company focused on e-commerce and online education. He joined F+W in January 2016 to oversee both a financial and operational restructuring of the company. His energy and vision were instrumental in leading the company through its most transformational period ever. His two-year tenure saw a dramatic increase in focus on digital product development and improved e-commerce models.

His extensive experience includes founding and serving as president of the USA TODAY Sports Media Group. The group united more than 100 sports properties within the Gannett, Inc. portfolio under one umbrella and successfully recast the brand as a top digital sports property. Under Beusse’s direction, USA TODAY Sports went from 17th in U.S. digital audience among sports web destinations to fourth overall within one year. By overhauling workflow and processes he was able to transform the brand into a digital-first sports news leader.

Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of Westwood One, a publicly owned content syndication company focused on network and sports radio. During a short tenure, he orchestrated the transition from 14 years of management by CBS, Inc. to a fully independent company. He also secured $100 million in equity (from Gores, LLC,) with which to operate the company post CBS. Lastly, he authored the plan to restructure the Metro Traffic division of Westwood One resulting in a $30 million reduction in annual operating costs. This ultimately positioned the company and its owners for a successful exit.

Beusse arrived at Westwood One after serving as President of Time4 Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Time Warner. In this role he was responsible for 18 consumer

golf.com and GOLF Magazine, This Old House and Warren Miller Entertainment. The portfolio of brands included 18 consumer magazines with a readership of over 9 million, along with Emmy award-winning television programming, robust web properties, feature films, events and exhibitions. In less than two years with the company, Tom achieved his goal of restructuring the company and positioned it for sale to Bonnier USA for over 11x EBITDA in 2007.

From 2001 through 2006, Tom was President at Rodale, Inc., where he successfully repositioned the company and its brands, including Men’s Health, Runner’s World and others, as international lifestyle brands. He was also responsible for the company’s expansion into digital and event platforms. The company experienced extraordinary and unprecedented top and bottom line growth during his tenure.

Beusse’s career began with a 3-year stint in media planning at Young & Rubicam advertising. This was followed by an 8-year tenure at Sports Illustrated where he grew from junior sales manager to NY AD Director, before taking an entrepreneurial leap into the early digital ecosystem. He did so in 1999 by becoming the 11th employee and VP sales and Marketing for Broadband Sports, a tech company building web sites for professional athletes and early fantasy sports products.

In addition to leading and often transforming companies, Tom is an avid golfer, boater and runner. In his spare time, he has run an impressive ten marathons, including two Boston Marathons. Beusse is the father of two adult children, Amanda and Patrick, and he resides in Connecticut with his wife, Deborah.
